Unit 3 Session 4

Session length and engagement with your online classmates depends on YOU, so proceed to the next session whenever you’re ready. Remember that your peers await your contributions. Help them learn with you and from you!

Session 4 PART 1 Critical Thinking and Listening Comprehension: TV News Report

Listen to this report by CNN reporter titled: This school divides students by race for an experiment. (2.38 min)

Examine the emphasis, pay attention to how the reporter speaks.

Ponder which parts of speech are emphasized? Why?

In your F2F class, conduct an individual jigsaw:
Divide
up the recording into sections and transcribe what is said in that section.

Reconstruct the text together and examine what is said:
How do parents react? What does the 10th grader say?
What does the teacher say? What does the expert (psychologist) say? What does the principal say?

FIT-EDUCATION BREAK #4
